Generally there
are three types of windows, with the least
expensive being aluminum windows. Aluminum
windows are used more widely for window
replacement because they are affordability and
because of their quality. Storm windows are
generally constructed with aluminum because they
provide strength against strong winds and rain.
However, aluminum is a good thermal conductor,
which can create problems if you are trying to
insulate your home. Because of this fault, many
companies insulate their aluminum windows with
special thermal barriers, which help to reduce
heat loss.
The next type of windows is vinyl. They are the
next step up from thermal windows, and have
several great qualities such as providing an
elegant appearance to your home. Vinyl windows
are also low maintenance, which don't need
touch-ups or painting. Another benefit of vinyl
windows is they are also great insulators that
keep you warm in the winter.
Wood-clad windows are the third type of window,
which are the top-of-the-line selection for home
use. Wood-clad windows offer you both the warmth
and beauty of wood plus the added benefit of a
maintenance-free exterior. This is an expensive
selection of window, but an excellent choice in
terms of looks, energy efficiency, and low
maintenance.
