Vinyl is Flame Resistant
Vinyl is the only plastic,
which can be manufactured into thin, flexible
wall coverings, car tops or kept rigid to be
used in construction on buildings.
Vinyl is
naturally flame resistant, generally will
inhibit the spread of flames,
and will not continue to burn once the flame
source has been removed. Vinyl also burns at a
higher temperature than other materials, making
it the material of choice for construction and
transportation applications. Unlike metal
tubing, vinyl conduits will not arc or short,
thus reducing fire hazards in electrical
applications.
Energy Efficiency and Conservation:
Vinyl is energy-efficient and environmentally
sound. It takes less energy to make, generates
fewer emissions, and uses fewer natural
resources than any other leading packaging
material. Because it uses less petroleum, vinyl
is the most energy-efficient plastic
manufactured. Of the 12 major plastics used in
transportation and construction, vinyl is one of
three with the lowest energy requirements,
making it perfect for windows, doors, and
siding.
